The class I will be presenting is entitled “Is Your House in Order?” It will cover the steps you need to take to ensure that your surviving family is taken care of in the event of a line of duty death.
No one wants to think about his or her death or be reminded of his or her own mortality. Unfortunately, over 100 officers are killed in the line of duty every year, and thousands more are injured in the line of duty. Death is a part of life. Being prepared for your own death or critical injury can prevent additional stress and confusion for your surviving family.
Although this course is being taught to officers, it applies to all of us. Everyone should have their legal documents (wills, trusts, health care directives, insurance, etc.) up to date.
